Jenrick believes in giving back

Here at Jenrick, we strongly believe in giving back to the community and although we happily donate money to fantastic causes, we also believe in giving our time. We recently decided to give up a day, as a team to help at Walton Charity at their Allotments, as after some research, we decided that we really liked their work and what they do to help the community.

About Walton Charity

Walton Charity aims to improve the lives of people living in the Borough of Elmbridge, and they do this by providing:

  • Funding for individuals
  • Community Grants and support for other organisations
  • Sheltered housing for older people
  • Use of their properties by the wider community
  • Allotments to rent
  • Community Allotment

The benefits of Walton Charity having an allotment are: Access to cheap fruit and vegetable, A good form of exercise, an environment where children can learn where food comes from, community spirit, providing a sense of achievement, well-being and a chance to learn new skills.

Our day at the Allotment

On arrival, we were greeted by the lovely Allotment Officer, Karen, who briefed us on the Allotments, what they do there and how we would be spending our day.
Our tasks involved: Pulling/digging out weeds, removing dead/unwanted plants, removing the old wood chip and replacing it with new wood chip, general tidying and watering plants.

Our team had a fantastic day, which we all enjoyed and at the end felt proud and satisfied with what we achieved.
