I’ve been in recruitment for a total of nine years now, six of which have been at Jenrick Engineering’s Burton branch.
Throughout this time, I have developed a range of excellent working relationships with clients who I am proudly working with today - the satisfaction I gain when they repeatedly come back to me, shows that the service I deliver is clearly hitting the mark!
I have developed major accounts with some of the largest food companies in the UK including Kerry Foods (Burton and Hyde), 2 Sisters Food Group and Kinnerton Confectionary, working with both their main sites and sister sites.
In addition to that, I now work within a range of industries, mostly being in the FMCG market, supplying to not just a range of leading international brands but also to emerging SMEs, through our ability to offer a scaleable and bespoke approach to recruitment.
What I love most about working at Jenrick is the incredibly vibrant and motivating team we have here, which has no doubt contributed to the success in my career so far.
Outside of work, I really enjoy playing netball, taking part as much as I can for a local team called ‘Kelly Girls’. We’ve got a really positive team spirit within the club and we get some pretty good results too!

I know that it may sound cliché, but recruitment really is my passion. I have worked in Engineering Recruitment since 1993 and always strive to be known for providing quality recruitment solutions. In an industry where reputation is foremost, I have aimed to maintain a high-quality, honest-service approach throughout all of my roles.
In 2000 I was approached to join the Simon Holdings Group, with a view to extending their Technical Recruitment presence into the Midlands, thereby complementing the progress of their Jenrick Engineering brand in the South since 1967.
2018 wasn’t a particularly straightforward year, there were many factors such as Brexit - big political decisions that came with that and on top of that the media were forecasting a slowdown of UK GDP growth. All this gave the feeling of doom and gloom. Thankfully due to the great British resolve, for the most part, these factors were sidelined by businesses with the attitude of ‘We just need to get on with it, irrespective’. For us as a business it did really feel like business as usual, just with a side of caution.
The theme of 2018 overall was more stable, the seasonal peaks and troughs throughout the year weren’t as drastic as previous years. Businesses were keen to ensure they were ready for 2019, keeping us as a business on our toes all the way through the year and into 2019.
We experienced an increase in new clients who have come on board in 2018 through word of mouth recommendation, 30% up from 2017, and an increase in the availability of good quality candidates which led to more and quicker placements than 2017. Whilst the Engineering market place is still very candidate driven, there has been a pleasing amount of new moves gained through companies progressing their teams and requiring additional team members to back fill the positions.
We saw businesses investing in stability in the immediate future. That meant finding the best talent on the market to continue providing an excellent service to their customers while also ensuring a solid staffing foundation to weather any storms that may come.
We’ve seen a huge increase in permanent and contract roles available over the last 12 months, with no sign of this slowing since the start of this year. With good quality candidates looking to make their next career move early on, this has led to 2019 starting off with all hands on deck. So much so we plan to increase our own internal staff levels to keep up with the demand enabling us to ensure we are able to continue to provide the excellent customer service that Jenrick are known for, and clients are used to receiving.
The first few months of any year are a good indication of what to expect from the rest, and therefore we expect the market to remain cautious but to also be focused on the core needs of businesses and shorten the time of current vacant roles.

Jenrick Engineering Burton have enjoyed an extremely busy start to the year – with the amount of available jobs up by 23%, and an increase of new clients up by 10% for the same period of 2017. Due to an increase of investment in various sectors within engineering and manufacturing, businesses are recruiting more people to help cover the demand of the increased number of contracts that have been on the rise in the last 18 months. As Jenrick Engineering are the go to recruitment agent for a lot of the UK’s largest engineering and manufacturing businesses, the need to recruit more staff internally has led for the need for larger offices. From 1 July 2018 Jenrick Engineering have moved offices from 190 Horninglow Street, Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, DE14 1NG to their new offices: Badger Farm, Willow Pit Lane, Hilton, Derby, DE65 5FN. The new offices boast 2,000 sq. ft. of open plan space with purpose built interviewing and conference facilities offering clients a confidential space to conduct off site interviews at no cost.
The extra space and open plan layout will enhance our internal communication and knowledge on available roles and candidates which increases the speed to which we can respond to vacancies, and will allow for Jenrick Engineering to further recruit internal staff to enhance the excellent service provided to a range of clients within the engineering, food and drink and manufacturing sectors. It will also allow Jenrick Engineering to support new sectors and industries that are currently experiencing a high demand for highly skilled permanent, interim personnel and contractors.
