Scala Developer required to join a dynamic, fast growing consultancy in London, where you will be required to work with various clients in the private and public sector.  You will need to be able and willing to go through security clearance (SC level).

As part of the Digital Transformation practice, my client are focused on creating a modern architecture and complex delivery practice that is capable of delivering cloud, digital and agile transformations to their clients.

To be successful for this role you will have a strong software engineering background, will have worked in large teams and / or may have led teams of engineers. 

Key responsibilities:

* Deliver high quality implementation and documentation for critical functionality.
* Deliver code, unit tests, feature tests, stubs and integration tests.
* Operate in an agile environment as part of a scrum team and participate in sprint rituals.
* Work with members of multiple skills to understand designs, functional requirements and triage issues.
* Create and document low level designs.
* Perform engagement management responsibilities, including performance reviews, task delegation, project scheduling, project financials, quality review and client management
* Participate in recruitment process, mentor, train and develop more junior staff, including graduates.

Essential skills required:

* Excellent hands on experience with JEE, Java, Web Services, REST
* Hands on experience with scala, cats, anorm, lenses, play and sbt
* Strong hands on knowledge of open source tools, libraries and standards
* Good working knowledge of containers (Docker), Maven, Jenkins and Nexus
* Strong experience of working in Test Driven Development, test coverage, unit tests, feature    
   tests and test automation
* Good knowledge of non-functional drivers for design
* Knowledge of both traditional and agile delivery methods
* Can work in a scrum team
* Drive and desire to further your skill set and lead in the application domain
* Good knowledge of open source and open standards
* Knowledge and demonstrable experience of both traditional and agile delivery methods
* Ability to learn quickly and adapt
* Willing to undergo government security clearance (SC level)
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
* Ability to build rapport with team members and clients

Desirable skills to have for the role (however not essential):

* Can understand and interpret UML designs, sound understanding design design patterns
* Good knowledge of microservices and SOA architectures
* Good knowledge of AWS, Terraform and kubernetes is highly desirable
* Strong hands on experience of creating and documenting low level designs, class designs and
  interface designs
* Knowledge of common integration techniques and approaches
* Ability to understand and challenge designs
* Ability to lead other team members
